Truly a gift. This was also very timely as we are launching an effort to mature our requirements gathering process over the next year. These 4 days were a fantastic launching point for us. Saved a ton of time in research and template development. The exercises were directly applicable to our goals on that effort. My team daily tells me how much they enjoyed it. Still - 2 weeks later. In terms of improvements, I don't have much to offer. Perhaps a little more time in the craft of elicitation and less time focused on project management. But even that was valuable for many. Kieran was very knowledgeable about BA responsibilities and elicitation techniques, relating stories from his own experience to the subject matter. He worked well with the group, provided adequate breaks, and tried to manage the presentation so that our less experienced BAs could keep up. He was a great partner when I worked to align the material to our existing process for better understanding. While I appreciated Kieran’s presentation and facilitator skills, I do not feel that he had adequate time to really absorb the detailed information I had sent him in my first email (he’s continually presenting and traveling), and therefore had a difficult time tailoring the presentation to our unique way of processing project requests. He did switch to a more traditional deck as requested, however, he continued to present as though we were an Agile house, with Agile processes, which my team found confusing. I continually had to remind him that we are not primarily a development house, we buy most solutions, which is not conducive to an Agile methodology. I did mention we could touch on user stories briefly but found it difficult to steer him away from the topic once he started, as a result, I found the second day less valuable than it could have been. I relayed that my team was inexperienced and would rather have reviewed examples of techniques used to gather requirements. I recognize there were many challenging factors for the workshop: • Inadequate time for the facilitator to prepare • Very inexperienced BAs • Lack of more traditional requirement process material

Everyone on my team talked about how much they enjoyed the discussions and items presented. Kieran is very knowledgeable and provided great insights from experience, not just book theory. My team were primarily BAs so having Kieran impress the critical nature of the BA role to the success of projects from the very beginning was a win for me. Really demonstrating HOW they can fulfill their role and working through examples, not just theory was invaluable.

We are very new to requirements gathering, the material was laid out to help us understand how each step logically led into the next, and demonstrated in a way that helped us understand the value. The exercises helped us gain the hands-on experience we needed to be confident trying the tools on our own. Worst? - There was no worst for us. We came away with templates and support material that we can actively put into practice and are excited to move this forward in our organization.

I found the following most useful: • Maturity Assessment • BA Task Deep Dive • Metrics • Stop, Start, Continue, conversation • Elicitation Technique recommendations by Project Level • Stakeholder Matrix I appreciated the opportunity to provide my team with some insights into my long-term vision for the team, and Kieran’s support to look into someday providing services less common to BA teams, but still considered BA skills such as Application Life Cycle Management and Business Relationship Management. Kieran was very knowledgeable about BA responsibilities and elicitation techniques, relating stories from his own experience to the subject matter. He worked well with the group, provided adequate breaks, and tried to manage the presentation so that our less experienced BAs could keep up. He was a great partner when I worked to align the material to our existing process for better understanding. While I appreciated Kieran’s presentation and facilitator skills, I do not feel that he had adequate time to really absorb the detailed information I had sent him in my first email (he’s continually presenting and traveling), and therefore had a difficult time tailoring the presentation to our unique way of processing project requests. He did switch to a more traditional deck as requested, however, he continued to present as though we were an Agile house, with Agile processes, which my team found confusing. I continually had to remind him that we are not primarily a development house, we buy most solutions, which is not conducive to an Agile methodology. I did mention we could touch on user stories briefly but found it difficult to steer him away from the topic once he started, as a result, I found the second day less valuable than it could have been. I relayed that my team was inexperienced and would rather have reviewed examples of techniques used to gather requirements. I recognize there were many challenging factors for the workshop: • Inadequate time for the facilitator to prepare • Very inexperienced BAs • Lack of more traditional requirement process material
