The Situation

Data governance has become a critical lever as expanding AI initiatives increase the need for trustworthy data. Governance ensures the organization extracts maximum value from the use of data assets and capabilities, but many struggle to make this work in practice. Areez was knowledgeable and engaging and he was skilled in steering us in the right direction without being too pushy. I also appreciated that he looked up our County's strategic plan and operational objectives and tied it to the workshop. We were able to identify program areas and what we should focus on first. I would have liked it if we have done a few more hands-on exercises in identifying data domains & assigned ownership (including non-ISD staff), but participants were juggling different meetings and commitments. If I have to do it again, I would have asked for complete commitment from all participants and included more departments.
