About Mark Hoeting

Mark Hoeting is digital strategist, inspirational leader, and visionary with more than 30 years of success achieving strategic business goals and transforming organizations. He has extensive experience in technology strategy and operations for large organizations with multi-national presence. Mark has led the transformation of large, complex organizations by partnering with business owners, institutions, and other private and public sector organizations to jointly solve problems and advance strategic agendas.

Prior to joining Info-Tech Research Group, Mark led a consultancy staffed with strategy, technical, and creative consultants that focused on minimizing risk and aligning strategy with technology portfolios and business objectives. Successful clients include those in manufacturing, financial institutions, healthcare, and public sector.

Mark is the former Chief Information Officer at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). The institute has operations across North America and four additional continents, of which Mark was responsible for comprehensive strategy and operations. In the role, he led a team of dedicated professionals and researchers focused on providing solutions through world class IT with a focus on innovation, agility, and cost efficiency. In this role, Mark led IT strategy and execution across enterprise IT and all non-classified and classified (DoD & DoE) research and development as one of the nation’s largest, federal R&D defense contractors.

Prior to his tenure at Georgia Tech, Mark served as the CIO within the University System of Georgia, leading the consolidation of Georgia State University and Georgia Perimeter College to create a new 60,000 student institution within the State of Georgia. Prior to the University System of Georgia service, Mark served 13 years as the CIO for the Arkansas State University System.

Mark is a frequent keynote speaker on the subjects of leadership, technology, education, and innovation, and has been published extensively regarding strategic planning, cost optimization, and models for cyber-research infrastructure.

He currently serves on numerous boards and is active in technology associations on a regional and national scale. He has held key senior leadership positions in higher education at institutions in Texas, Virginia, and Arkansas, in addition to his appointments within Georgia. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications & Management Information Systems from Stephen F. Austin State University, and holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Western Governors University.
