What Exactly Is Autodesk Forge?
So what is Autodesk Forge?
Forge is a collection of web APIs (Application Program Interfaces), sample code, and documentation that allows you to develop applications and integrate some of the standard components that are used in Autodesk products. Forge exposes some of the components of the Autodesk library in a cloud-based environment as building blocks that you can integrate in your own workflows.
With Forge, you can now connect your design data with your ERP or CRM systems to create custom web applications linking Autodesk with other applications. The 3D viewer allows the designer to interact with metadata from a large number of binary formats and render the model in your browser without having to install additional software.
You can use the Data Management API to connect data from your engineering drawings with your ERP, connecting metadata from your enterprise system to display side-by-side with the actual design, all in a web browser.
