Trello Hits 50 Million Registered Users and Gets New Capabilities
Atlassian-owned project management tool Trello has hit 50 million registered users, up from 19 million users when Atlassian acquired Trello in 2017.
To mark Atlassian’s most successful business acquisition to date, Trello’s capabilities have been expanded. Key changes include:
- A template gallery that assists in a range of activities, from wedding planning to workflow processes.
- An AI bot called “Butler,” integrated as a core feature in Trello’s free version. A key feature of this bot is that it will suggest certain actions based on how you use Trello, improving user learning and deepening understanding of all of Trello’s capabilities.
- A 3M Post-it® App feature that allows users to take a photo of a sticky note and integrate it into Trello.

Our Take
Registering 50 million users is an admirable milestone, cementing Trello as one of the most well-known project management tools on the market.
However, even though SoftwareReviews rates Trello at a composite score of 8.1/10, Trello only ranked 6/11 in the final Project Management category. Indeed, users only scored Trello’s capabilities at 78%, compared to Wrike’s score of 86%.

What Atlassian will hope is that these new capability innovations will give Trello a boost as a leader in the project management space – and it certainly has the resources and user support to make that happen.
