Talend Now Supports Microsoft Azure for Its Complete Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) Suite
Talend recently announced support for the Microsoft Azure platform as part of its data integration suite platform offering. This is an interesting development as Microsoft Azure has its own set of integration tools and knowingly or unknowingly becomes a natural choice for many customers who are moving into the Azure cloud.
Talend's announcement to offer support to Microsoft Azure is timely in a growing field of iPaaS software. Other leading vendors in this space, such as Dell Boomi and Informatica, have already offered similar support to the Microsoft Azure platform. Talend definitely is a viable option even though the vendor appears to be lagging behind other leading vendors in this space. For example, according to SoftwareReviews, Dell Boomi and Informatica have a higher emotional footprint of +83 and +76 respectively compared to Talend at +68.

It is important for an organization to evaluate its data integration strategy at a critical junction of cloud adoption to see if it has positioned itself for future success. An organization must first answer a few key questions before jumping into platform selection:
- Are you just adding another integration tool on top of many already in place in your organization? Is your integration platform independent?
- Are you simply creating another point-to-point integration or does your integration platform serve as a data hub?
- Are you reusing your integration services (message formats, transformation, and techniques)?
- Do you know what data is being moved and shared and for what purpose?
Careful consideration of the above questions will help the customer choose the platform that serves them for a long period with a higher degree of scalability and flexibility.
