Comprehensive software reviews to make better IT decisions

Latest Zoom Updates

The collaboration and video conferencing software company Zoom has announced new updates to its platform (planned before the security crisis the week of July 8).

Zoom Dashboard now has a People Count option, which lists the number of in-room participants and can export the data as a .csv file. Moreover, admins now have access to 12 months of data; beforehand, admins could only access one month of data.

Users can also choose their preferred time and date format within a profile page, which will appear on schedule pages for meetings and web conferencing.

In addition, Zoom now offers an anonymous polling feature.

Our Take

Zoom’s new updates offer a more frictionless experience, giving admins more breathing room for capturing data and, given the new anonymous polling feature, more honest data from across a workforce.

However, based on client feedback, SoftwareReviews still ranks Zoom quite low in comparison to other leading web conferencing tools (see table below). Though Zoom’s updates are welcome, they may not be radical enough to alter Zoom’s competiveness.
