Best solution for private cloud, still.
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates VMware vRealize Cloud Management & CloudHealth by VMware Suite from other similar products?
VMware Cloud Management Platform is still the most mature, most reliable and maybe most importantly most compatible cloud platform for private clouds out there. It's not really possible to use the hyperscale clouds out there as private cloud, it's always some type of hybrid. But VMware can sell and deploy all the components you need to run a private cloud platform for your enterprise. The open source backed competition such as OpenStack are developing fast, but are lacking industry compliance, support levels, reliability and track record.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
VMware's cloud platform is built in layers, that are clearly understood and clearly visible in any deployment diagrams. This layered structure makes it very easy to design user access management schema for different levels of users and administrators of the platform. And no, not even the most advanced clients/users of the cloud platform get the full admin rights everywhere.
What do you dislike most about this product?
API documentation is at best manageable with. The style of the API doesn't follow all the best flavours and practices out there.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
In the end, still today, VMware beats OpenStack based approaches in at least support, reliability, compatibility and track record.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Reliable
- Trustworthy
- Acts with Integrity
