The past few years have seen growing adoption rates for both thin client and VoIP softphone technology. However, the challenges of integrating the two technologies have left IT with a few options, all of which have their difficulties:
- Stop using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), and see what Citrix can do.
- Do the processing at the thin client terminal by other means.
- Wait for a solution to appear.
This research note explores the limitations to implementing thin client and VoIP together and how softphones can best be integrated into thin client infrastructure today.
