Too often, security is an overlooked aspect of an IP Telephony (IPT) deployment. While the technology offers significant business benefits, it can also open enterprises to considerable risks. This research note explores the following components of a secure IPT strategy:
- Addressing LAN vulnerabilities.
- Protecting IP endpoints and call servers.
- Encrypting call signaling and media streams.
Enterprises must allocate the necessary resources to IPT security to ensure that the benefits of the technology do not come at the cost of the integrity and availability of enterprise voice services.
