A work breakdown structure (WBS) is a document used to record and communicate tasks and deliverables associated with a project based on the requirements. It provides the framework for detailed project cost estimations, resource allocations, and ownership in addition to identifying project scheduling and dependencies.

Your WBS should include:

  • Project breakdown by tasks and owners, indicating when the tasks should start and finish.
  • Task issue log detailing the impact and resolution of the issues.
  • Task tracking report highlighting the current progress of your project.

The WBS should be just one component of your project plan, which should also include budgets and resources.
