Info-Tech’s latest study on SharePoint revealed that one in five enterprises find security planning to be a major challenge. Since SharePoint is primarily a collaboration platform, access control is an important concern, and SharePoint servers become attractive targets for intrusion.

The scope of security planning will differ depending on whether the enterprise’s SharePoint implementation employs only Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) or the full Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS). The information provided here applies to MOSS 2007.
