Identifying the target state consists of scoping the strategy and visualizing what IT should be achieving in the coming years. The creation of a target state relies heavily on the business context and outcomes. This phase will take you through the following activities:

  • Identify the IT implications based on the business context of the organization.
  • Define the IT strategy scope from the business context and IT implications.
  • Create the IT vision, mission statement, and guiding principles.
  • Determine the IT goals, IT organization target maturity, and target-state IT capabilities.
