With the 2006 hurricane period looming for much of the United States, IT administrators are wondering how their Disaster Recovery Plans will hold up to another record-setting season. The best way to find out is to stress-test the enterprise's DRP thoroughly.
According to "Proving Your Disaster Recovery Plan Works," from Datamation, there are at least four ways to stress-test your DRP:
- Blink tests.
- Audit assessments (or, structured walk-throughs).
- Component tests.
- "Pull-the-plug" exercises.
