Enterprises are being forced to make tough decisions in this difficult economy and it could be a watershed year for IT executives as they attempt to successfully steer their organizations through unsettling times. As a result, network managers should take the following actions to ensure their service strategy plans are aligned with shifting business needs and changing IT priorities:

•    Revisit present network providers and their services.
•    Adjust technology plans & projects based on business unit needs.
•    Take action to resolve network budget & support problems.

Based on the pervasive impacts of the economy, network strategy plans could be out of sync with business unit needs and service provider capabilities. In some instances, the results could impact the ability of business units to meet their assigned market objectives.
