While most organizations are busily grabbing the low-hanging fruit of cost reduction, such as slashing discretionary spending, other IT service areas are being side-lined. Discover these untapped cost-saving opportunities and bring them to the top of the enterprise's cost-reduction to-do list.
Missed Opportunities
In the first quarter of 2009, Info-Tech conducted a survey to find out IT leaders' focus areas for enterprise cost management. Table 1 describes three things from that survey:
- The percent of survey respondents that indicated a given IT service area has been a cost management focus for them on an ongoing basis.
- The percent of survey respondents that indicated a given IT service area has become a higher cost management priority in response to specific cost-reduction targets mandated by senior management.
- The change in relative ranking before senior management's delivery of cost-reduction targets, and after.
