The Evolution of Storage Workbook enables analysis of how well storage needs are currently being met at the organization in terms of performance and capacity.

  • Data will be collected across a range of categories in order to create a baseline understanding of storage in the organization.
  • Storage growth goals, growth trends, and specific initiatives impacting storage will then be incorporated to help understand what future changes are required to meet data storage needs.
  • Later steps will incorporate goals and priorities to guide solutions selection.
  • Project costing and net benefit analysis will follow to show the impact of your project choices.

If an overarching documented IT strategy exists, then the end-goal of this project will be to create a storage growth plan that enables this strategy within budget limitations. The Evolution of Storage Workbook will guide you through all steps of this process.

This workbook is out of date - the pre-defined time scopes in the drop down lists have mostly passed. Please advise when this will be refreshed.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The tool has now been updated so the Implementation Date drop-down menu starts in Q1 2017 and ends in Q4 2019; the Current Date drop-down menu now goes out to Sep. 2019.
