This template provides the IT manager with the basic framework of a business case. Completing the various sections of the template will result in a finished document that speaks to the following:
- The strategic benefit of an ERP system as it pertains to the enterprise.
- The quantitative benefit, namely costs and margins, of an ERP system.
- The issues with current systems that result in the need for an upgrade to ERP.
This template should be used early in the assessment process. The document should be given to executives to gain buy-in, after which point it should be made available to the entire organization as proof of due diligence.
