Continuous Data Protection (CDP) allows for incremental backups because each time data is changed, it is backed up instantaneously. The CDP backup system logs the available files, so data can be restored according to the most immediate Recovery Point Objective (RPO). It is now time for enterprises of all sizes to reassess CDP as a goal for their next backup solution.

Previously, there was a significant investment required to incorporate CDP into the enterprise disaster recovery plan (DRP). In 2007, many of the mainstream backup and recovery vendors went through a product refresh and opened the gate for more companies to take advantage of CDP benefits.
