A variety of Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions can help enterprises of all sizes offer workers remote access to the corporate network. Companies can decide between in-house, outsourced, or a combination of both in and out-sourced VPN services.

A well-balanced VPN solution must offer superior security, reliability, and scalability, as well as network and policy management. Mid-sized or large organizations often deploy in-house VPN systems to connect multiple offices. In-house systems can use on-premise equipment to create internet-based, LAN to LAN intranets and/or extranets. This involves an initial investment in the necessary equipment, but saves on costs associated with leasing lines.
