Documenting lessons learned in each stage gate of a COTS implementation is a must: this template makes it easy to do so.

The purpose of the Project Lessons Learned Document is to record, in detail, the specific project activities that were most effective and those that require adjustments for upcoming project phases and future projects. The objective of this report is to inform current and future project teams of important lessons learned during the project.

The project manager should lead the discussion and documentation. The SI can also be consulted.

The Project Lessons Learned Document aims to:

  • Identify project highlights and accomplishments;
  • Identify problem areas and how they were mitigated/dealt with;
  • Outline key lessons learned from each project phase and from the overall project to apply to future projects.

Use this template in conjunction with the project blueprint, Govern and Manage an Enterprise Software Implementation.
