Your Challenge

A lot of IT leaders complain about “not knowing what they don’t know.” They need a process that goes through all the major decisions they need to make when developing a mobile strategy and what options are available for each decision.
The order matters. Some organizations implement a piece of a strategy, then later realize they have to scrap it and start over when a new initiative comes up. Fitting initiatives into a timeline BEFORE starting is critical, as is positioning the mobile strategy in the context of a broader end-user computing strategy.
It’s both a problem to solve (security issues, help desk complexity, high costs) and an opportunity to do more with mobile (better employee productivity & satisfaction, added business opportunities).
Priority is usually high. Mobility is almost always a key part of IT strategies today. A structured process for developing a strategy will be effective in quickly addressing this initiative.

This project will help members create a written mobile strategy that can guide policies and procedures and be inserted into a broader end-user computing strategy. It will also allow members to become rock stars by quickly coming up with a fully formed mobile strategy--which is often demanded on a tight deadline.
Determine metrics for establishing a baseline and measuring success of the strategy over time.
Build an expandable strategy, and a process for reevaluating it, starting with a focused and limited strategy and expanding it to include more devices, applications, and use cases.
