Data has traditionally been stored in the cloud for backup and archiving purposes, and this remains a very valid use case. However, as cloud vendors mature their service offerings, there are an increasing number of business enabling benefits of storing data in the cloud.
Your Challenge
Our members have several reasons for considering cloud storage:
- Enterprise storage demands are always increasing.
- In many cases expanding enterprise storage area networks is a cost-inefficient way to address growth of data.
- Data center resources (space / power / cooling) are always at a premium.
- It is difficult to compare costs. Enterprise storage is measured in upfront capital plus yearly support. Cloud storage is measured in dollars / GB / month.
- For smaller enterprises, large-scale enterprise storage isn’t an option at all.
Cloud-based storage mitigates all of these challenges. We need to educate and prepare our members on making the best use of this technology.
