According to a recent Info-Tech Research Group survey, small and mid-sized enterprise (SME) response to Windows Server 2008 is slightly more positive than the response evidenced by larger enterprises. Respondents revealed several key indicators of SME enthusiasm for the new server operating system:
- Almost 50% of enterprises with 100 employees or less are leaning toward Windows Server 2008 adoption.
- One-sixth of enterprises with fewer than 251 employees have already deployed or will deploy within the next 12 months, in contrast to the 8% of large enterprises at a similar stage.
- SMEs generally reflect a negative attitude toward Microsoft's brand, but express higher levels of enthusiasm for Windows Server 2008 features and expected performance improvements.
IT leaders can use this report to review the enterprise's motives and timing for Windows Server 2008 adoption.
