Xandros offers enterprise-grade server and desktop platforms based on Debian. Recent acquisition of Scalix e-mail and the soon-to-be-launched BridgeWays cross-platform management suite position Xandros to accelerate growth. This report examines:

  • Linux and Xandros market share in the data center.
  • Xandros product strategy.
  • Challenges to Xandros strategy and considerations.

IT leaders are encouraged to consider Xandros Linux when looking to maximize Windows desktop familiarity. Xandros Server is trying to gain market share by piggybacking with management tools and solution-stacks. However, the solution-stacks strategy is only just under way and the as-yet-undelivered BridgeWays management toolset faces stiff competition from Novell's ZENworks suite. Watch for signs of success from Xandros in 2008.
