After StoneFly's acquisition in 2006 by Dynamic Network Factory (DNF), it introduced a new entry-level product line. The StoneFly Integrated Storage Concentrator (ISC) delivers scalable IP SAN-in-a-box functionality to small to mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) or remote branch offices.

Key points of this note include:

  • StoneFly's position among Storage Area Network (SAN) vendors.
  • A summary of StoneFly products.
  • StoneFly strengths and weaknesses.

SAN vendor offerings in the hot SME market are refreshed almost continuously. This research note is part of a series to provide an update as to what is being offered by various vendors in this space. Each product will be analyzed for how well it meets criteria such as support for virtual infrastructure, built-in management features, and leverage of lower-cost iSCSI.
