Conducting a license inventory is a critical step in any license audit. When an audit is called, it is always at an inappropriate time, requires immediate response, and is highly disruptive to the business. As the software licenses owned by the company are identified, use this template to keep track of important license-related information, such as license version and type, maintenance coverage, related documentation, and support information.
This template will help you identify:
- List licenses owned by the company.
- Document dates (e.g. maintenance expiry).
- Software support information.
This template is most useful for auditing purposes, but is not ideal for a SAM Strategy as it requires manual reconciliation to installation inventory.
