Info-Tech Research Group recently conducted a survey into IT security maturity. As a component of that survey, it investigated the rate of occurrence of a number of IT security threat types. The threat types evaluated were:
- Malware attacks.
- Externally-sourced breaches.
- Internally-sourced breaches.
This study determined that while malware continues to be the most commonly noted type of security incident, breaches caused through employee error are the most concerning. Understanding the frequency at which these types of threats can be expected will allow enterprises to build efficient infrastructures to protect against them.
