Business unit dependency on wireless services, especially data, continues to grow. However, many IT groups have not completed a plan to manage and support the wireless services utilized by business units. To correct this situation, IT organizations should focus on the following planning activities:
- Develop a plan that identifies wireless support needs.
- Determine how wireless services are monitored and managed.
- Implement basic wireless device management policies.
Many IT groups are swamped with support requests for wireless services and device assistance from the business units. Unless a plan is crafted to deal with this situation, IT groups can become overwhelmed and unable to support critical business needs.
