The data center is the most important room in the company. Equally as important is the health and well-being of data center staff. In the event of a disaster, data center employees must be prepared to react in a calm manner that both preserves life and, as much as possible, minimizes damage to equipment. Safety and efficiency are therefore the two watchwords of a sound data center evacuation plan.

Evacuation Planning, the DRP, and You

Evacuation plans are a critical aspect of IT's overall DRP. The company's health and safety committee, in conjunction with Human Resources, is largely responsible for creating general evacuation policies and procedures, as well as communicating these to the broader employee base.
