Resource limitations may create barriers to projects, even when projects have been identified as high priority. Evaluate resource availability against project priorities to choose the best projects for the organization's limited resources.

Use this tool to:

  • Measure enterprise resource availability against project resource requirements.
  • Analyze how resources can be distributed in various "what-if" scenarios.
  • Realistically allocate limited resources among prioritized IT projects.

Use this tool to simplify resource allocation by generating recommendations based on enterprise resource limits and project resource needs.

For more assistance with prioritizing projects, see the complete set of tools in the OptimizeIT program, Project Prioritization.

I really like the approach and presentation, though I'd love to be able to break down the FTE's by Skills or Roles. Most of our projects need specific skills (DBA, Programmer, Bus Process Analyst, Business SME) at various stages of the projects and the aggregated FTE view doesn't give us the visibility we need.
