Telephony & VOIP

The more telephony changes, the more it stays the same: a mission-critical service.

  • Enterprises are continuing to migrate to IP Telephony but typically only as existing equipment reaches end-of-life. Given the high cost of implementation, a short term ROI is not realistic and the business case must incorporate soft benefits.
  • Vendor evaluation must be in the context of a broader collaboration strategy and include key enterprise application considerations. The ability of vendors to integrate and operate with other elements of the IT infrastructure is increasingly vital.
  • Many enterprises will struggle to make a case for hosted IP Telephony, given a higher TCO and service availability concerns. However, this model has its niche and should be closely considered in environments where staff expertise and capacity are limited.
