Timothy Hickernell

Associate Lead Research Analyst –

Tim Hickernell is an information technology industry authority with over 20 years of practical experience, including 14 years in the electric utility industry and 9 years as an information technology analyst.

At Info-Tech Research Group, Tim is responsible for establishing the research direction for collaboration, desktop productivity and customer relationship management research.

Prior to joining Info-Tech Research Group as an Associate Senior Analyst, Tim was a Vice President in the Content & Collaboration Strategies Service of META Group, formerly of Stamford, CT. At META Group, Tim focused on customer relationship management strategy and technologies, content lifecycles, workgroup publishing, workgroup collaboration, desktop applications, electronic service, interactive marketing, service knowledge bases, search/retrieval technologies, and enterprise forms.

Before joining META Group, Tim was responsible for developing strategic architecture for electronic customer care, knowledge and document management, imaging, groupware, and search/retrieval technologies at Commonwealth Edison Co. (now part of Exelon Corp.) as a senior architect in the Information Technology Department. Prior to joining Commonwealth Edisons IT Department, Tim spent over eight years in the companys power generation business unit, managing content lifecycles related to nuclear powerplant operations and engaging in power plant operations as a systems engineer.

Tim has a long history of speaking at industry conferences and events and is frequently quoted in the press. He has a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Science in Information Technology from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. He is also a licensed amateur radio operator.
