What Is IT Supply Management?

Info-Tech defines IT supply management as the processes and practices of arranging for people resources to meet the demand for IT services. People resources can consist of employees, contractors, consultants and vendors. Supply management considers the prioritization of demand for IT services, and matches that demand to IT staff availability based on capacity and skills.
In basic economics, a supply problem arises when consumers demand more than a company is able to produce.
