Published: April 22, 2008

In Info-Tech’s recently completed in-depth study on the business value of SharePoint, 28% of the participants belonged to the professional services sector. The following case study is based on the experiences of one representative participant.

Implementation Profile

The study participant is an international law firm with offices in the US, the UK, and Canada. The firm has 1,200 employees worldwide, of which 30 are IT staff. All of the 1,200 employees have access to SharePoint. The version of choice is Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, which IT selected for its advanced functionality.

The firm first implemented MOSS in early 2007, using the portal functionality to build a replacement for its homegrown enterprise intranet. The firm plans to expand the implementation to include more collaboration features, such as social computing and team sites.
