Pilot Implementations: The Results Are In

Info-Tech Advisor: Research Note

Published: February 05, 2008

A pilot implementation allows an organization to confirm its strategy for full application deployment. To successfully round out a pilot deployment, ensure the pilot results are thoroughly analyzed and required changes are communicated to impacted teams.

Executing a pilot implementation allows an organization to verify an application can be deployed. A pilot implementation will expose potential operability issues and will provide an opportunity to address them before full application roll-out. There are several steps an organization needs to take to assess, plan, and execute a pilot implementation. These include:

  • Identify the need for a pilot implementation.
  • Develop a detailed pilot approach.
  • Execute the pilot with ease.

There is one final stage that must be completed to ensure a successful pilot implementation – the analysis and incorporation of valid feedback into the application, system documentation, or training materials. Follow Info-Tech’s recommendations to effectively make use of pilot implementation results.
