With the multitude of critical services and applications being loaded onto today’s enterprise networks, the most visible impact will be on the enterprise WAN infrastructure. Legacy IP WANs that were designed to support standard data traffic between sites are now being tasked to support the added bandwidth and real-time performance requirements of IP voice, video and related applications. Enterprises pursuing a converged communications strategy must understand the nature of new application demands and start planning the appropriate WAN infrastructure provisions.
