Symantec has led the way in data security. In recent years, they have expanded their software portfolio to bring this security philosophy to other areas. NetBackup has the benefit of the security leader behind it.

The History of NetBackup

NetBackup has been around in various forms since 1987. The first significant success came after Veritas Software’s acquisition of the solution from OpenVision Technologies in 1997. Veritas offered UNIX-only solutions until its acquisition of OpenVision, which provided a Windows-based backup solution.
