With Notes and Domino version 8, IBM Lotus Software renews its ability to compete with Microsoft’s Exchange and Outlook platform. Notes client improvements center on the user interface, while Domino server enhancements improve administration, cluster replication, and I/O. IT leaders contemplating abandoning the Notes platform, or considering a green field Exchange implementation should examine these updates to Notes and Domino 8.

Powerful Punch in a Small Package

The double-dot (8.0.1) release offers continued improvements to the user interface in the Notes client while enhancing server-side (Domino) performance. IBM Lotus announced a February release date for 8.0.1.
