Backup Software: EMC NetWorker

EMC got into the backup software business as part of a major acquisition binge that started in 2003. The 2007 updating of the flagship NetWorker suite to include data deduplication and continuous data protection (CDP) is itself the result of further acquisition by EMC. Look to NetWorker to continue to provide a robust and expanding feature set.

CDP and Deduplication Meet NetWorker

CDP and data deduplication are backup-related solutions that each developed separately from mainstream backup application software. Through corporate acquisition, these solutions have been brought into the fold of major backup software players and are now being actively integrated into core products.
