Info-Tech Advisor: Research Note

Published: March 18, 2008

In a year where all the leading backup providers introduced new features, CA’s ARCserve was long overdue for a refresh. The last major release of ARCserve was version 11.5 in 2005; ARCserve r12 was released in beta in 2007, and the final version was released in February of 2008.

The History of ARCserve

ARCserve was previously Cheyenne Software’s Brightstor ARCserve. Cheyenne was acquired by CA in 1996. CA maintained the Brightstor brand until the first half of 2007. ARCserve is the flagship product of the Recovery Management branch of CA’s Enterprise IT Management (EITM) suite of management products.
