The e-mail archiving market traditionally addressed storage issues. By offloading e-mail to a different server, the main e-mail server could work more efficiently. Today, e-mail archiving adoption is largely driven by fear of litigation. Identify enterprise drivers to help with vendor selection.

E-mail archiving solutions address four key pain points: E-discovery, e-mail server storage performance improvement and cost reduction, policy automation and administration, and user self-service for deleted items. Enterprises will want to select a solution that meets enterprise goals, but avoid spending on undesired features.
