Three Critical LAN Upgrade Prerequisites

There are a number of potential drivers for a LAN upgrade and/or redesign, including:

  • Aging LAN infrastructure no longer meets business requirements.
  • End-of-life equipment is no longer supported by the vendor.
  • New applications will not perform properly on existing infrastructure or LAN configuration (i.e., ERP, VoIP).
  • Growth, expansion/new locations, merger/acquisition, or mandate from parent company.
  • Regular LAN infrastructure refresh cycle.

No matter what drives a significant LAN refresh or redesign, there are three critical prerequisites every company should engage in prior to proceeding.
