Five Steps to Transition App Use Cases to Test Cases

Info-Tech Advisor: Research Note

Successful QA testing relies on many factors, including a motivated testing team, a realistic testing schedule, an effective defect tracking system, and high quality test cases. Test cases outline actions the QA team will perform to test application functionality. A good test case strikes a balance between being detailed and being easy to implement, not something that is always easy to achieve. To help reach this balance, QA testers should examine all inputs available when creating test cases.

Use Case Benefit Testing

Use cases are a crucial input when building appropriate QA test cases. A use case describes how a system will be used to complete an action from the user’s perspective. By definition, use cases form a logical link between application development and QA testing. By following the scenarios and flows described within Info-Tech’s action plan, use cases can be employed to create comprehensive QA test scripts.
