Combat Software Implementation Issues with a War Room

Info-Tech Advisor: Research Note

Published: December 11, 2007

With any software implementation, issues are frequently raised in the critical first days of post-deployment. No matter how thoroughly the application was tested and how stringent the development team was in their build, application bugs will inevitably surface. There are many contributing factors:

  • More bugs slip through the cracks with a highly complex application.
  • An implementation with complicated technical architecture and hardware will have issues during deployment.
  • A large number of application users or user groups result in more questions and concerns.
  • Multiple project sites add to the complexity of an implementation.

In large-scale deployments, running an implementation war room is an effective means of capturing and resolving issues. The war room label refers to combat, and rightfully so, the purpose of a war room is to provide a central location where the deployment team can work alongside the operations team to battle problems that arise during implementation and in the early phase of post-implementation. Arrange a war room to contribute to application deployment success.
