Negotiation skills are a must for every IT manager. Negotiation is something that every IT manager will encounter in their daily work activities – whether it is with vendors, employees, or their own boss – it is an essential skill needed to be a successful IT professional. In a good negotiation, both parties will leave feeling as though they have won. This is the ideal situation, because if the other party feels defeated or taken advantage of, that feeling of defeat manifests itself into negative feelings and reactions that can strain the relationship. The person may even be hesitant to return to the negotiating table with you in the future.
