Mobile phone-based GPS navigation offerings emerged in 2005, and have evolved into reliable, feature-rich applications. Most major North American wireless carriers now offer mobile navigation software on a variety of handsets and PDAs. In general, all GPS navigators provide significant business value. For example:

  • Over the course of a business trip in a new city, sales reps save time by having inter-city routes mapped for them automatically, resulting in fewer late appointments and more time for sales.
  • Technicians with frequent house calls can avoid the wasted time and headaches of running in circles when servicing unfamiliar neighborhoods or cul-de-sacs.
  • Delivery staff with single or multiple stops can reduce driving time and increase productivity by previewing the most efficient routes from point to point.

Mobile navigators provide these features, while being less expensive to purchase and maintain than stand-alone navigators. Learn about the availability of mobile navigators, and their strengths compared to standalone units. Understand the costs of mobile navigators and determine if they can get employees, goods, and services on track, efficiently and inexpensively.
