Five Insider Tips for Microsoft Project 2007

Info-Tech Advisor: Research Note

Microsoft Project can be an overwhelming collection of project management tools. But you do not have to be a project management expert to exploit valuable features.

Sorry, No Ribbon Awarded to this Project

With Office 2007, Microsoft introduced its new “Ribbon” user interface. The new Ribbon interface designed for Office 2007 incorporates functionality that attempts to predict the context of a user's work habits, and changes the Ribbon accordingly. At the same time it continues to provide users with familiar and straightforward object commands.

Unfortunately, Project 2007 did not inherit the new Ribbon interface. Info-Tech finds this ironic because no application in Office 2007 would benefit from the task-oriented nature of this new interface as much as Project, which is by definition the most task-oriented application in the Office 2007 family of products. Microsoft is expected to add the Ribbon interface to Project by 2010/11.
