Info-Tech Advisor: Research Note

Published: August 21, 2007

Windows SharePoint Services provides the tools to help people stay connected across organizational and geographical boundaries. It gives people access to the enterprise information and documents they need to stay productive with features that support discussions, blogs, and sharing documents, calendars, and announcements.

Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0 is available as a free download to any organization using Windows Server 2003. WSS is supported by the operating system and these minimum requirements: Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.x, ASP.NET, the .NET Framework 1.1, and a SQL Server database.

If the infrastructure already exists within the enterprise, take advantage of these cost-effective WSS features to implement a dependable and scalable collaboration environment.
