Analyst Recommendations: What You Need to Know

IT staff face a challenge when evaluating recommendations from analysts. While the specific topic of a research report may be relevant to the enterprise, the final recommendations may not directly match the enterprise’s vision and needs. By considering analyst recommendations as guides addressed to general audiences, IT staff can gain useful information without being mislead or insulted.

Techno-Religion or Legitimate Criticism?

Enterprises often depend on industry analysts to provide guidance in areas where the enterprise has little expertise or minimal time for research. However, most analyst reports are designed for a broad audience and may contain recommendations and suggestions that simply do not fit a specific enterprise environment. This doesn’t mean that the recommendations are incorrect; it may just mean that the enterprise’s situation lies outside of the audience on which the report is focused.
